Commission III of the House of Representatives held a special session regarding the acid attack on KontraS administrator Andrie Yunus. Commission III of the House of Representatives demanded that police immediately arrest the masterminds and executors of the acid attack.

The special session was held at Commission III of the House of Representatives, Jakarta, on Monday (16 March 2026). Commission III chair Habibirokhman, along with representatives from all factions in Commission III, subsequently presented the results of the session.

He initially expressed condemnation of the acid attack directed at Andrie Yunus. He emphasised that such action constituted a crime against democracy.

“We are deeply concerned and strongly condemn the acid attack because it is not merely ordinary crime, but rather a crime against democracy,” said Habibirokhman during a press conference following the session.

He called on the national police to thoroughly investigate the case. He also urged the police to promptly arrest the masterminds and perpetrators of the acid attack.

“Commission III of the House of Representatives requests the national police to thoroughly investigate the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus swiftly, transparently, and professionally, and to immediately reveal and arrest those responsible, whether those who planned, ordered, executed, or assisted in accordance with applicable laws,” he stated.

He emphasised that the acid attack represents a form of resistance against the Prabowo Subianto administration. Specifically, he continued, regarding human rights protection.

“The acid attack against Andrie Yunus is a form of resistance against the commitment of President Prabowo’s administration to maximise protection, advancement, enforcement, and fulfilment of human rights as outlined in the Asta Cita,” he asserted.

As is known, Andrie Yunus became a victim of an acid attack allegedly carried out by two perpetrators in Central Jakarta on Thursday evening (12 March). The incident occurred as Andrie was returning home after attending a podcast event at the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI).
