Rizki Faisal, a member of Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR), stated that the circulation of counterfeit Singapore Dollars (SGD) valued at 3ES 340,000, or approximately Rp4.7 billion, constitutes a serious crime.

Rizki noted that in this case, perpetrators could be charged under Article 374, which carries a potential 10-year prison sentence and a fine of Rp5 billion.

“Given the threat of Article 374 applied by investigators, involving a 10-year prison sentence and a Rp5 billion fine, this counterfeit money falls into the category of serious crime,” Rizki said in a statement on Friday (18/9).

Rizki also called on the police to immediately name suspects in this alleged circulation of counterfeit Singapore Dollars. According to Rizki, the designation of suspects must be carried out promptly, as the South Tangerang Police have already elevated the case to the investigation stage.

“With the existing data and facts, the police should be able to name suspects, rather than merely upgrading the case to the investigation stage,” he remarked.

Furthermore, the police have been urged not to stop at the street-level perpetrators, but to also uncover the source, the supplier network, and the production location.

Rizki mentioned that naming suspects is crucial to ensure the investigation progresses further. With a clearer legal status, law enforcement agencies can expand the case to dismantle the entire counterfeit money distribution chain.

In this matter, the South Tangerang Police have interrogated six witnesses and are continuing to delve into statements from other parties. The Indonesian National Police’s International Relations Division (Divhubinter) is also coordinating with the Singapore Police regarding the investigation status of an Indonesian citizen in that country.

The case was reported to the Metro Jaya Regional Police on 3 July 2026 before being transferred to the South Tangerang Police. The case status was subsequently upgraded to the investigation stage on 9 September 2026.
