Commission III Requests Best Healthcare for Andrie Yunus: Must Be VIP Standard
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) is pushing the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) to provide the best possible care to Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS).
Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman explained that the best care in question must meet VIP class standards.
It began with Habiburokhman reading out five points of conclusions from a meeting that is currently being editorially refined, during a session at Commission III of DPR RI in the parliamentary complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3/2026).
“(Point four), Commission III of DPR RI requests that the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), together with all relevant parties, especially the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance, provide the best possible care for the health recovery efforts of Mr Andrie Yunus. Full stop,” said Habiburokhman during the meeting, quoted from Kompas TV.
“That (point four) is clear. So clearly, he must receive the best healthcare. Don’t give him class 3 or whatever class. That’s what point 4 means. So he must get VIP,” he added.
In addition to that point, Commission III of DPR RI also discussed four other meeting conclusions related to the Andrie Yunus case.
The other conclusions state that Commission III of DPR RI will oversee the handling of this case by forming a working committee (panja) related to the acid splashing incident.
“As a form of commitment to enforcing the protection of human rights,” Habiburokhman continued.
Furthermore, Commission III of DPR RI appreciates the performance of the National Police (Polri) and all relevant parties who have uncovered the incident and identified the perpetrators in the acid splashing case against Andrie Yunus.
Habiburokhman requested that LPSK immediately facilitate comprehensive protection for Andrie Yunus, his organisation, his family, and other related parties in accordance with legal provisions.
“Commission III of DPR RI urges Polri and TNI parties to continue synergising in handling the acid splashing case against Mr Andrie Yunus, guided by the provisions of Article 170 of Law No. 20 of 2025 on the New Criminal Procedure Code in handling this case,” he added.
“I propose, do fellow Commission III members agree to the formation of a Panja (Working Committee) of Commission III on the acid splashing case against human rights defender Andre Yunus? Agreed?” said Habiburokhman.
