Commission III of House of Representatives Mourns Death of Sixth Vice-President Try Sutrisno and Chair of KPAI
Commission III of the House of Representatives held a public hearing regarding the death of a child in Sukabumi, West Java, Nizam Syafei, who died allegedly after being abused by his stepmother. Commission III of the House expressed deep condolences over the incident.
The hearing was held in the Commission III meeting room at the House of Representatives complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (2 March 2026). The hearing was chaired by Commission III Chair Habiburokhman.
“First and foremost, we express our deepest condolences over the death of young Nizam on 19 February 2026,” said Habiburokhman during the hearing.
Habiburokhman also expressed condolences over the death of KPAI Chair Margaret Aliyatul Maimunah. Commission III of the House also mourned the death of Indonesia’s sixth Vice-President Try Sutrisno, who died on Monday (2 March).
“We also express our deepest condolences over the death of Margaret Aliyatul Maimunah, Chair of KPAI, on 1 March, and this morning we received news of the passing of our elder and national leader, our Vice-President Try Sutrisno,” he added.
Habiburokhman stated that the hearing was not intended to intervene in the ongoing investigation into Nizam’s death. The Commission sought to ensure the case proceeded in accordance with applicable law.
“This hearing is not an intervention in the investigation proceedings, but rather to ensure that the investigation into the death of Nizam Syafei truly complies with applicable law based on the facts at hand, so that the deceased may truly receive justice,” he concluded.
