Jakarta (ANTARA) - Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has requested that law enforcement agencies adhere to the connectivity regulations in Law Number 20 of 2025 on the new Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) when handling the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus.

Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman stated this as one of the conclusion points from a special meeting regarding the case of the human rights defender at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday.

“Commission III of the DPR RI encourages the National Police (Polri) and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to continue synergising in handling the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus by adhering to the provisions of Article 170 of the new KUHAP in this matter,” he said.

Emphasis on the importance of following connectivity rules in investigating this case was also conveyed by Commission III members present at the meeting.

“I think you already know that the TNI’s POM has also issued a press release. Of course, the implementation, since this case may develop and it’s not the TNI personnel themselves who are involved, there might be civilians involved due to various developments in the investigation,” he said.

“So, as mentioned by the Commission Chairman earlier, we will adhere to Article 170 of this new KUHAP, regarding how proceedings between military and civilians will be depicted there,” added Safaruddin.

Commission III member Adang Daradjatun also stressed the urgency of adhering to connectivity rules to ensure justice in the Andrie Yunus case.

Article 170 paragraph (1) of the new KUHAP stipulates that criminal acts committed jointly by persons subject to general courts and military courts shall be tried by the general court.

Meanwhile, if in the said criminal act there is a significant point of loss to military interests, the case must be examined and tried by the military court, as regulated in Article 170 paragraph (2) of the new KUHAP.

Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS) Andrie Yunus was attacked by unidentified persons in Central Jakarta on Thursday (12/3) night.

The incident occurred shortly after Andrie finished recording a podcast at the Office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI), which discussed the topic of militarism and the material examination of the TNI Law.

“We can inform that the two people we showed earlier, from this Polri data, one with initials BHC, and one with initials MAK,” said Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Pol Iman Imanuddin, during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.

On the other hand, the TNI’s Puspom stated that it has detained four personnel suspected of involvement in the case.

Puspom TNI Commander Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto in Jakarta on Wednesday said that the four personnel with initials NDP, SL, BWH, and ES were detained at Puspom TNI for further investigation.

“We convey that all four of these alleged perpetrators are members of the Denma BAIS (Headquarters Detachment of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency). So, not from any unit, but from Denma BAIS TNI,” he stated.
