Commission III Appreciates Suspension of Detention for Amsal Sitepu by Medan District Court

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chair of Commission III of the House of Representatives RI, Habiburokhman, has expressed appreciation to the Medan District Court for granting the suspension of detention for the videographer who is the defendant in the alleged budget inflation case for a project in a village in Karo Regency, North Sumatra.

He assessed that the granting of the detention suspension is a concrete manifestation of the court’s sensitivity to the sense of justice prevailing in society. Commission III of the House of Representatives RI is the party that submitted the request for the suspension of detention for Amsal.

“We appreciate the suspension of detention for Amsal Sitepu by the Medan District Court,” said Habiburokhman when contacted in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Therefore, he said, Commission III of the House of Representatives RI hopes that Amsal receives justice during the verdict hearing at the Medan District Court on Wednesday (1/4).

“We pray that in tomorrow’s verdict, Amsal can also be freed from all charges,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Medan District Court reportedly granted the request for suspension of detention for Amsal Sitepu on Tuesday. The Medan District Court is scheduled to hold the verdict hearing for Amsal on Wednesday (1/4).

Previously, Commission III of the House of Representatives RI urged the panel of judges to consider issuing an acquittal or a light sentence for Amsal Sitepu.

Commission III of the House of Representatives RI also stated that the panel of judges needs to consider the facts of the trial and adhere to legal values as well as the sense of justice prevailing in society.

Therefore, Commission III of the House of Representatives RI also agreed to act as guarantor for Amsal in submitting the request for suspension of detention.
