JAKARTA — The Chairman of Commission II of Parliament, Rifqianizamy Karsayuda, has welcomed the government’s instruction requiring regional heads to remain on alert during Eid al-Fitr, or Hari Raya Idul Fitri 1447 Hijri/2026 Gregorian.
“I welcome this instruction. Eid is not just a religious occasion, particularly for Muslims, but it also encompasses complex issues,” said Rifqi during a phone interview on Monday, 9 March 2026.
According to him, regional heads have a fundamental obligation to be present during Eid and to oversee their respective regions.
“Whether it concerns security matters, law and order, transportation, and other public services,” he said.
Therefore, the instruction issued by Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian must be appreciated.
“How to prevent high inflation, and then ensure access in their regions remains intact, and so forth,” he added.
The politician from the National Mandate Party also noted that Eid al-Fitr serves as an opportunity for national cohesion and pluralism in Indonesia.
Additionally, according to him, the occasion of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri should be used as an opportunity for familial and community ties.
For context, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian has instructed all regional heads and their deputies to remain and remain on standby in their respective regions during a one-week period before and one week after Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri.
Tito has also prohibited regional heads from travelling abroad during the Eid holiday in 2026.
This instruction has been issued by Tito to ensure smooth governance of regional administrations during the Eid recess period in 2026.
The instruction was communicated through Circular Letter (SE) from the Home Affairs Minister Number 000.2.3/1171/SJ dated 8 March 2026 regarding Postponement of Foreign Travel during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri Holiday.
