JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) hopes that public services can continue to operate normally amid various policies implemented in the current geopolitical situation.

Chairman of Commission II DPR RI, Muhammad Rifqinizamy Karsayuda, conveyed this directly to the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri), Tito Karnavian, during a meeting held at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Monday (30/3/2026).

“We place our hopes and position the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) as our eyes and ears to ensure that all our regional governments are still running well, public services can still be carried out, and the basic needs of the community are still being served well, once again in a situation that is not easy,” said Rifqi, opening the meeting on Monday.

Moreover, the global geopolitical situation is impacting Indonesia, including regional governments.

“But, of course, in these days full of uncertainty, especially following the global geopolitical pressures of 2026, we all feel many changes occurring both at the national level and particularly at the regional level,” he stated.

The government is known to be reviewing several steps for budget savings following the escalation of conflict in the Middle East after the United States (US) and Israel attacked Iran.

Several budget-saving options planned to be pursued by the government include implementing work from home (WFH) for civil servants (ASN) to save on fuel oil (BBM) consumption.

Later, Prabowo will designate which minister is authorised to announce it.
