Commission I of House of Representatives Condemns Attacks on Iran and Calls for End to War
Jakarta — Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives Sukamta has condemned the attacks carried out by Israel and the United States against Iran, and called for an immediate end to the war as it poses a threat.
“The war must be stopped because we regard this as a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region,” said Sukamta in Jakarta on Monday.
According to him, the attack constitutes a flagrant violation of state sovereignty, international law, and reflects a trend towards expanding the scope of confrontation.
He believed that every country has the right to defend its territory and sovereignty in accordance with international law.
On this basis, he stated that the United States and Israel must take responsibility for the escalation they have caused and which has the potential to create an increasingly expanding regional conflict.
“The international community must ensure and maintain stability within Gaza and combat price manipulation and monopoly practices amid poor humanitarian conditions,” he said.
He also called upon the international community to take urgent action to stop aggression and maintain regional stability by preventing the Middle East from descending into a major war that will only worsen the suffering of its people.
Furthermore, he also expressed support for the initiative of President Prabowo Subianto, who has offered himself, if needed, to mediate between Iran and the US-Israel alliance.
According to him, this represents part of the realisation of the constitutional mandate to actively maintain world peace.
“Although we know the situation is indeed very difficult, all positive and constructive efforts should be pursued,” he said.
