Jakarta — The Deputy Chair of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Dave Laksono, has stated that alert status level 3 is sufficient to ensure public security whilst maintaining efficient use of TNI resources.

He described the TNI’s adjustment of alert status from level 1 to level 3 as an appropriate and proportional step. Preparedness, he noted, must be adjusted according to the dynamics of threats and actual field requirements.

“We affirm that preparedness is not merely a matter of numerical levels, but rather how the TNI can respond to every potential threat swiftly, measurably, and effectively,” Dave said in Jakarta on Friday.

Commission I of the House of Representatives, he stated, supports the TNI’s approach of maintaining vigilance without excess, allowing forces to focus on the most relevant security tasks.

He expressed confidence that the adjustment reflects the TNI’s mature and responsible readiness.

With a measured strategy, he said, the TNI remains capable of fulfilling its role as the nation’s foremost defence pillar.

“This policy demonstrates that the TNI is not only alert to threats, but also fosters optimism that national security can be properly maintained and citizens can conduct their activities with a sense of safety,” he said.

Earlier, the Head of Public Information of the Army, Brigadier General Donny Pramono, stated that the TNI is currently operating under alert status 3 following its previous alert status 1 implementation in accordance with a directive from the TNI Commander.

Alert status 3 was implemented to strengthen troop readiness to secure the region during the Eid al-Fitr period.

“We are implementing alert status 3 as we will also be conducting Eid al-Fitr activities,” Donny said during a media briefing at Army Headquarters on Thursday (12 March).
