The government’s policy to slash the maximum commission for online motorcycle taxi app companies to eight percent has elicited a response from industry players. inDrive Indonesia’s management stated that it is still monitoring the implementation of the new regulation through intensive communication with relevant stakeholders.

Communication Manager for inDrive Indonesia, Wahyu Ramadhan, said the company continues to follow developments regarding the issuance of Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026 on the Protection of Online Transport Workers.

“Regarding the Presidential Regulation that regulates the commission cap for ride-hailing services at eight percent, inDrive is currently continuing to coordinate with relevant stakeholders through routine discussions involving various parties from our industry,” Wahyu said when contacted by Republika on Monday (4/5/2026).

Wahyu emphasised that inDrive is committed to maintaining a commission scheme deemed fair for drivers. According to Wahyu, the company has prioritised a revenue-sharing model from the outset that provides greater income opportunities for driver partners.

“It is proven that with the lowest commission in the market, we can provide higher earning opportunities for our drivers while still maintaining reliable transportation service quality,” Wahyu stated.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto set the maximum applicator company deduction at eight percent through Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026 on the Protection of Online Transport Workers. The policy was announced during a speech commemorating International Labour Day at the National Monument in Jakarta on Friday (1/5/2026). “I do not agree with 10 percent; it must be below 10 percent,” Prabowo said.

To date, applicator commissions have been said to reach around 20 percent. Through the new regulation, the government stipulates that drivers must receive at least 92 percent of the trip revenue.

The President also stressed that the policy aims to strengthen the welfare of online transport drivers who work with high daily risks, while ensuring social security protections.

“They must be provided with work accident insurance, BPJS Health, health insurance,” Prabowo said.
