Commission Doubts Viral Letter Naming Kuntadi as Candidate for Jampidsus

The Attorney General’s Commission (Komjak) has responded to the circulation of a letter purportedly containing the Attorney General’s proposal to President Prabowo Subianto regarding the definitive appointment of a Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) to replace Febrie Adriansyah. Komjak Chairman Pujiono questioned the authenticity of the viral document. He stated that a letter of such importance addressed to the President should be restricted and not easily circulated in the public domain. “If a letter of this importance goes viral, then the letter is currently not valid,” Pujiono said when confirmed on Wednesday, 15 July 2026. Despite questioning the document’s validity, Pujiono revealed that Komjak had indeed submitted several names to the Attorney General for consideration to fill the Jampidsus position definitively. He even acknowledged that some of the names appearing in the viral document were proposed by Komjak. “We proposed some of them for Jampidsus,” Pujiono said. The circulating letter claims the Attorney General proposed Head of the Asset Recovery Agency (BPA) Kuntadi as a candidate to replace Febrie Adriansyah. The same document also suggests that Head of the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office, Patris Yusrian, would fill the position of BPA Head. Furthermore, the document contains proposals for the rotation of several other high-ranking officials within the Attorney General’s Office. Asep Nana Mulyana is named as a candidate for Deputy Attorney General, Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak for Junior Attorney General for General Crimes (Jampidum), and Harli Siregar for Head of the Education and Training Agency. However, the Attorney General’s Office has yet to confirm the contents of the circulating letter. Head of the Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, admitted he was unaware of any official changes as stated in the viral document. “Sorry, I don’t know yet,” Anang said.
