Commission Doubts Viral Letter Naming Kuntadi as Candidate for Jampidsus

Jakarta, VIVA – The Prosecution Commission (Komjak) has responded to the circulation of a letter claimed to be a proposal from the Attorney General to President Prabowo Subianto regarding the definitive appointment of a Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) to replace Febrie Adriansyah.

Komjak chair Pujiono instead doubted the authenticity of the viral document. According to him, a letter addressed to the President should be classified in nature and not easily circulate widely in the public sphere.

“If it circulates too virally, for a letter that important, it means the letter is currently not valid,” said Pujiono when contacted on Wednesday, 15 July 2026.

Despite questioning the letter’s validity, Pujiono revealed that Komjak had indeed submitted a number of names to the Attorney General as considerations for filling the Jampidsus position on a definitive basis. He even acknowledged that several names circulating in the document were proposals from Komjak.

“Several were proposed by us for Jampidsus,” said Pujiono.

Recently, a letter has circulated stating that the Attorney General proposed the head of the Asset Recovery Agency (BPA), Kuntadi, as candidate for Jampidsus to replace Febrie Adriansyah. In the same letter, the head of the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office, Patris Yusrian, was said to be in line to fill the position of BPA head.

Not only that, the document also contained proposals for a rotation of several high-ranking officials within the Attorney General’s Office. Asep Nana Mulyana was named as proposed for Deputy Attorney General, Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak as Deputy Attorney General for General Crimes (Jampidum), and Harli Siregar as head of the Prosecution Education and Training Agency.

However, the Attorney General’s Office has not confirmed the contents of the circulating letter. The head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre (Kapuspenkum), Anang Supriatna, said he was not yet aware of any proposal for official rotations as contained in the viral document.
