COMMINFEST 2026: A Platform for Young Communicators to Anchor Change
The annual Communication Interest Festival (COMMINFEST) 2026, organised by the Communication Studies Student Association (HMPS Kom) in collaboration with KPKS and Atma Jaya Radio (AJR) at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta (FISIP UAJY), concluded successfully. The festival, which opened on Friday, 22 May 2026, and closed with a vibrant Awarding Night on Saturday, 23 May 2026, at the Bunda Theresa Building, Campus 4, carried the theme ‘Anchor: Anchoring Communication for Powerful Generation’, referencing SDG 16 on peace, justice, and strong institutions. The event attracted 151 teams from across Indonesia, with 15 finalists selected from prominent universities including UI, UGM, UNPAD, UNDIP, UNESA, UPNVJ, Universitas Ciputra, UNIKA Atma Jaya, and Universitas Katolik Soegijapranata. The opening ceremony featured an acoustic performance and stand-up comedy, while the Project Officer, Nathanael Dipatya Nayotama, explained the theme’s philosophy, likening communication students to anchors who create precise and robust communication while resisting negative currents. The Awarding Night commenced with a marching band performance and speeches from faculty members, including the Head of the Communication Studies Programme and the Vice Dean of FISIP, who praised the participants’ courage and creativity. A theatrical performance by UPN ‘Veteran’ Yogyakarta highlighted the struggle for justice amidst widespread dishonesty. Winners were announced across five competition categories: The Prime, won by ‘Preman Temcy’ from Universitas Diponegoro; Radio Announcer Competition (RAC), won by ‘ARMOER’ from Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta; LUMENS, won by ‘SwaraVice’ from Universitas Gadjah Mada; Artriwara, won by ‘IM PRESS’ from Universitas Gadjah Mada; and BROADAY, won by ‘FIVE TV E’ from Universitas Pembangunan ‘Veteran’ Jakarta. The event closed with a musical performance, celebrating the competitive yet collaborative spirit of the young participants.
