Commemorating the Prosecutor's Office Anniversary, Attorney General Discusses Morality and Integrity
Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin has called upon all ranks within the Prosecutor’s Office not to ‘sell’ the institution’s name for personal profit.
This was stated by Burhanuddin during his mandate at the ceremony commemorating the Anniversary of the Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday (2/9). He reminded staff that the value of integrity is non-negotiable and must be upheld by every member of the Adhyaksa. Burhanuddin requested that in all the execution of their duties, they must always apply the principles of honesty, morality, justice, and ethics.
“Maximum integrity and optimal morality can close the gaps for potential disgraceful acts and prevent the undermining of the institution’s authority,” he asserted.
The Attorney General warned all personnel that the ranks held by prosecutors are not merely attributes, but symbols of honour and trust. Therefore, he reminded them to maintain authority through humility. Furthermore, he requested that the authority granted by the state be exercised properly and that the positions held be respected reasonably.
“Remember, never ask for or accept anything in the name of the institution. Because even the smallest act can damage the dignity of the Prosecutor’s Office that we have collectively protected,” he emphasised.
Burhanuddin subsequently ordered the prosecution service to synergise in achieving integrated law enforcement that is high in integrity and respects respective authorities, without losing the independence, objectivity, and integrity of the prosecutor’s office as law enforcers.
Through strong and harmonious synergy, he noted, law enforcement will become more effective, efficient, trustworthy, and provide certainty and justice for all members of society.
He emphasised that public trust is both an honour and a mandate that must be maintained through integrity, professionalism, and the best service to the community.
“Every member of the Adhyaksa is a mirror of the institution. Our attitude, speech, and behaviour do not only reflect our personal selves, but determine the dignity and authority of the Prosecutor’s Office in the eyes of the public,” he said.
“I remind all ranks to constantly maintain integrity, prioritise simplicity, and preserve the honour and authority of the institution in every step. Do not let a single disgraceful action ruin the good image that we have built and are currently building,” he added.
