Head of Traffic Police, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho stated that Pancasila Day should be leveraged as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration in public spaces. He instructed all regional traffic police directors to optimise the ‘Traffic Police Outreach and Service’ programme through strategic partnerships with online motorcycle taxi (ojol) communities.

Inspector General Agus emphasised that Pancasila’s values in daily road life must be realised through collaboration. The relationship between police and ojol drivers must transform into a robust safety partnership.

“Under the guidance of the Police Chief, on Pancasila Day, the relationship with ojol communities must be strengthened as a safety partnership, not merely between officers and road users,” said Inspector General Agus on Monday, 1 June 2026.

Inspector General Agus noted that, psychologically and humanistically, ojol drivers wish to be valued as part of traffic solutions, not merely as enforcement targets. Therefore, social justice and humanitarian principles must underpin the ‘Traffic Police Outreach and Service’ programme to foster a sense of ownership towards road safety.

“Ojol are the eyes, ears, and friends of Traffic Police on the road. This partnership is not merely collaboration, but a joint effort to ensure safety for all road users,” stressed Inspector General Agus.

To implement effective partnerships on the ground, the Head of Traffic Police outlined five key points for regional traffic police directors to execute immediately:

  1. Regular Communication Forum
  • Periodic meetings between Traffic Police and ojol communities.

  • Gathering feedback, complaints, and input from the field.

  • Jointly solving traffic issues.

  1. Traffic Safety Ambassadors
  • Ojol drivers positioned as safety pioneers.

  • Setting examples in helmet use, traffic sign compliance, and road etiquette.

  • Assisting in disseminating safety messages to the public.

  1. Joint Education and Training
  • Safe riding techniques.

  • First aid for accidents.

  • Understanding updated traffic regulations.

  • Humanistic communication training on the road.

  1. Rapid Information System
  • Ojol as partners in reporting road conditions, congestion, accidents, or traffic obstructions.

  • Traffic Police quickly sharing traffic management information with the community.

  1. Social and Humanitarian Activities
  • Community service.

  • Blood donation.

  • Disaster victim assistance.

  • Safety campaigns in schools and communities.

“Ojol are the eyes, ears, and friends of Traffic Police on the road. Traffic Police safeguard safety, ojol spread it. This partnership is not mere collaboration, but a joint effort to ensure safety for all road users,” Inspector General Agus concluded.
