Commemorating National Elderly Day, 585 Seniors Join Simultaneous Massage in 23 Cities
The commemoration of National Elderly Day (HLUN), which falls on 29 May each year, serves as a crucial momentum to strengthen concern for the health and welfare of seniors in Indonesia. Amidst a trend of increasing elderly population, various strategic initiatives are being promoted to ensure they remain healthy, active, and have an optimal quality of life. Based on recent data, the number of elderly people in Indonesia has reached 29 million and is predicted to continue growing annually. This phenomenon demands greater attention from various parties, given the increasingly complex health and social challenges faced by this age group. Responding to this challenge, RX Relaxology took concrete action by organising a simultaneous elderly massage programme across its entire network. This social initiative was not only aimed at providing relaxation but also successfully achieved a proud record in the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI). Medically, massage therapy for the elderly is not merely a luxury service but a functional necessity. The touch of a professional therapist helps improve blood circulation, relieve joint pain, and reduce muscle tension often complained of by those in their twilight years. Moreover, this activity provides a positive psychological impact in the form of calmness and happiness. RX Relaxology Chief Operating Officer Ayuna affirmed that wellness services must be inclusive. ‘We hope this activity becomes a form of appreciation for the elderly so they continue to feel cared for. Fitness services are not just for the productive age group, but also vital support for the elderly to maintain their body comfort,’ she stated. High enthusiasm radiated from the participants, one of whom was Oma Rohanah. She admitted to feeling instant benefits after joining the session. ‘I am very happy, my body feels healthier and I sleep more soundly. I hope events like this can continue,’ she said with a beaming face. Through this HLUN momentum, it is hoped that public awareness to care for the elderly around them will increase. The elderly are not merely a group that needs assistance, but an integral part of the nation’s fabric that must be respected and given space to enjoy old age with dignity in good health.
