Commemorating Independence Day, Rombsis Indonesia Sends Aid to Support Disaster Response in NTT
The Rombsis Indonesia Humanitarian Foundation has distributed Rp100 million in aid to communities affected by disasters in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) as part of the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia’s independence. The aid was announced by Rombsis Indonesia Chairman Andi Idhanursanty during the independence commemoration ceremony at the Purna Bhakti Pertiwi Museum grounds, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta, on Monday (17/8/2026).
Idhanursanty said that the independence commemoration should not be understood merely through ceremonial activities, but should also be filled with concern for communities in need.
“Today our task is different. If in the past independence meant being free from colonialism, today independence means being free from poverty, free from ignorance, free from division, and free from indifference towards others,” said Idhanursanty on Monday (17/8/2026).
On that occasion, Idhanursanty announced the distribution of aid for communities affected by disasters in NTT. “And today we are providing assistance to NTT amounting to Rp100 million,” he said.
According to him, the spirit of mutual cooperation remains one of the ways in which the public gives meaning to independence. Concern for others, he said, needs to be strengthened amid various social challenges that have emerged alongside technological developments and the rapid flow of information.
Idhanursanty also reminded the public of the importance of maintaining unity amid the prevalence of hoaxes and intolerance in the digital sphere. According to him, the public has a responsibility to give meaning to independence through integrity, concrete work, and social concern.
In addition to distributing aid, Rombsis also offered prayers for President Prabowo Subianto, asking that he be given strength in running the government and be able to improve public welfare.
“Our hope is that all Indonesian people are free from poverty, free from suffering, and that there are no longer any Indonesians who are uneducated; all Indonesian people must have the highest level of education,” said Idhanursanty.
The 81st Independence Day commemoration within the Rombsis Indonesia Humanitarian Foundation continued with a national song competition involving foundation members. The activity formed part of the independence commemoration series as well as a joint activity to strengthen the spirit of mutual cooperation.
