Commemorating Cianjur's 349th Anniversary, KDM Pledges to Improve Education Quality

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi attended the Special Plenary Session of the Cianjur Regency Legislative Council (DPRD) to commemorate the 349th anniversary of Cianjur Regency. The solemn event took place at the Cianjur DPRD Building on Sunday (12/7/2026). In his address, the man affectionately known as KDM delivered a profound message for the advancement of human resources in Cianjur. He stressed that the community must continue to improve their level of education in line with the increasingly open access provided by the government. “The people must go to school; the government is now open to encouraging its citizens to attend school,” KDM said before the plenary session participants. KDM specifically asked the Regent of Cianjur to immediately identify areas that still have limited access to educational institutions. He offered a collaboration scheme between the West Java Provincial Government and the Cianjur Regency Government to accelerate the construction of educational facilities in remote areas. “For example, land acquisition is carried out by the Regency Government, while the construction is carried out by the province,” he explained as a concrete solution for equitable education services. Beyond education, KDM outlined several infrastructure ‘gifts’ that the West Java Provincial Government has provided for the people of Cianjur. One highlight was the construction of a road in the Cikadu area, the benefits of which are now being felt by residents. Looking towards the future of tourism, KDM plans to adopt the successful management of the Ciater area in Subang and apply it to the Puncak area in Cianjur. The main focus is on organising street vendors so that the area remains aesthetically pleasing and not slum-like. “For the vendors, we will think about where to relocate them later, because if they are relocated to the same kind of place, it will become slum-like again,” he asserted. He also encouraged the Cianjur Regency Government to immediately resolve spatial planning matters. According to him, Cianjur is a region that possesses geographical ‘perfection’ and complete economic potential, ranging from mountains to marine resources. KDM believes that with its natural wealth encompassing mountains, sea, lakes, superior agricultural products, and industrial zones, Cianjur only needs to implement proper branding and rebranding. “Cianjur has long been known as a special area, to the point that the song ‘Semalam di Cianjur’ was created. It just needs to be managed well,” he concluded, while reminding the community to always maintain environmental cleanliness.
