Commemorating 81st Independence Day, Tanah Abang Residents Enthusiastically Join People's Feast
The People’s Feast event organised by the Three Pillars of Tanah Abang Subdistrict to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia was warmly received by the local community. Held at Lapangan Merah, Bendungan Hilir Urban Village, Tanah Abang Subdistrict, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (18/8/2026), the event carried the theme ‘Independence Is Not Only Celebrated, But Felt’.
Thousands of residents enthusiastically took part in the various activities prepared by the committee. The programmes presented at the Tanah Abang People’s Feast included the distribution of staple food packages, a free SME bazaar, free health checks, independence-themed fun games, and musical entertainment.
The success of the event was inseparable from the synergy of the three pillars of Tanah Abang Subdistrict, namely the police, the subdistrict government, and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). The Tanah Abang Metropolitan Police Chief and Committee Chairman, AKBP Dhimas Prasetyo, explained that the event was a form of commitment to ensuring the public can directly experience the meaning of independence.
‘This year we are carrying the commitment that independence must be felt directly by the community. We want the presence of the state and regional government to be truly tangible for our brothers and sisters in need,’ said Dhimas in a press release in Jakarta on Thursday (20/8/2026).
