Commemorating 57 Years Since the Al-Aqsa Arson, Crowd Holds Rally Outside US Embassy
Members of the Aqsa Working Group held a rally commemorating the 57th anniversary of the arson attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque outside the United States Embassy in Jakarta on Friday (21/8/2026). The demonstration served as a platform to voice concern over the condition of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and to convey demands to parties deemed to have influence over the conflict in the region. During the rally, the crowd demanded that the United States and Israel’s allied nations halt what they described as legal violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque. They also called for the mosque to be returned to Muslim control. The event coincided with the 18th anniversary of the Aqsa Working Group, with participants carrying posters and Palestinian attributes while expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people and their struggle for independence.
