For a philanthropic institution, age is more than just a count of years. What matters most is the level of trust maintained and the breadth of benefits delivered to society. This is the spirit that Baitulmaal Muamalat (BMM) has upheld throughout its 26 years of service.

Entering its 26th year, BMM has reaffirmed its commitment as a trustworthy, professional, and reliable Islamic philanthropic institution in collecting and distributing zakat, infaq, alms, waqf (Ziswaf), and corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds. For over two decades, every mandate from donors, partners, and the community has been directed towards targeted programmes in economics, education, health, humanitarian aid, and social da’wah, both in Indonesia and abroad.

Under the theme “Celebrating Care, Expanding Goodness,” the 26th anniversary serves as a momentum to invite more parties to participate in the movement of sharing. This spirit is manifested through various social activities, ranging from the inauguration of clean water well waqf, waqf literacy seminars, shopping with orphans, mass circumcision, the distribution of dream shoes, purchasing snacks from MSME entrepreneurs, the distribution of school kits for orphans across seven BMM regional offices, to free health check-up services.

During this 26th anniversary, BMM also launched the El-Nino Survival Programme, which will reach beneficiaries on a national scale.

BMM’s long journey began on 16 June 2000. Since then, the institution has continuously strengthened its governance and professionalism in managing public social funds. This commitment is reinforced by its recognition as a National Zakat Collection Agency (Laznas) by the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as its recognition as a Waqf Nazhir by the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI).

The growing trust from the public and partners is also reflected in various awards received. In 2024, BMM ranked in the top five of the TOP BRAND AWARD in the National Zakat Collection Agency category. Furthermore, BMM received the TOP CSR Award 2026 in the Corporate Level category (4 Stars) and the TOP Leader on CSR Commitment 2026. These awards serve as recognition of BMM’s consistency in executing social programmes transparently, accountably, and with real impact.

BMM’s humanitarian commitment also transcends national borders. In 2025, the institution successfully distributed direct aid to the people of Palestine through the Jordanian border, during both the Ramadan period and at the end of the year. Notably, during Ramadan 2026, BMM conducted a live report of direct aid distribution from within Palestine alongside residents of Gaza. Through this broadcast, donors were able to witness the actual process of distributing the aid they entrusted to the institution.

The Executive Director of BMM, Tegar Sangga Barkah, emphasised that public trust is the primary foundation that sustains the entire movement of goodness carried out by BMM.
