Commander’s Telegram: TNI on Alert Status 1

Jakarta — General Agus Subiyanto, Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), issued Telegram Number TR/283/2026, ordering a Level 1 alert for all TNI ranks. The telegram was signed by Assistant Operations (Asops) to the Commander, Lieutenant General Bobby Rinal Makmun, in Jakarta on 1 March 2026. In documents obtained by Republika, there are seven key instructions for the TNI. They respond to developments in the global conflict in the Middle East and the leadership’s considerations on domestic conditions. To anticipate domestic conditions arising from the Middle East conflict, several TNI units were ordered to implement Level 1 alert across all units. The alert is in force from 1 March 2026 to its completion. First instruction: Panglima Komando Utama Operasi (Pangkotamaops) should prepare personnel and alutsista in their units and carry out patrols at obvit strategic sites and centres of economic activity. This includes airports, sea and river ports, railway stations, bus terminals, and PLN offices. Second: The National Air Defence Command (Kohanudnas) should carry out early detection and 24-hour aerial surveillance. Third: The Strategic Intelligence Agency (Bais) should order Indonesian defence attaches (athan) in affected countries to document, map, and plan evacuation of Indonesian citizens (WNI) if needed, and coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu), the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI), and relevant authorities in line with escalation in the Middle East. Fourth: Kodam Jaya/Jayakarta should patrol at obvit strategic sites and embassies and anticipate developments to maintain conduciveness in the Jakarta Special Capital Region (DKI Jakarta). Fifth: The TNI Intelligence Unit should carry out early detection and pre-emptive action against groups at obvit and embassies and anticipate developments to maintain conduciveness in the DKI Jakarta region.
