Commander-in-Chief urges Kostrad ranks to prepare for global conflict
Depok, West Java (ANTARA) - The Commander-in-Chief of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General TNI Agus Subiyanto, has urged the Army’s Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad) to prepare themselves to face global conflicts that are increasingly heating up. He said all preparations must be undertaken to shield the country from the effects of international conflicts whose escalation is rising. ‘We are currently confronted with global dynamics characterised by the rivalry between major powers, with global and regional conflicts continuing to rise, and the threat of hybrid warfare,’ Agus said as he delivered an address during Kostrad’s 65th anniversary parade at the Field of the Kostrad Division I Headquarters, Cilodong, Depok, West Java, on Friday. Agus said the characteristics of warfare have started to evolve from relying solely on physical attacks to the use of media warfare and cyber-attacks. Agus continued that conventional and modern warfare must be anticipated as they pose a potential threat to national security. ‘In facing multidimensional threats, I instruct that Kostrad must always be ready to fight and win in every spectrum of warfare,’ Agus said. Agus assessed that Kostrad is a key striking force with a crucial role in defending Indonesia’s territory. Therefore, he asked Kostrad ranks to enhance soldiers’ combat and defence capabilities to anticipate attacks from all directions. By mastering modern and conventional defence capabilities, Agus believed Kostrad would be better able to counter any threat arising from the impacts of international conflicts. ‘As Commander-in-Chief, I am confident and optimistic that Kostrad will continue to stand tall as the pride of the TNI and of all Indonesians,’ Agus said.
