Commander-in-Chief receives Try Sutrisno's remains for military burial
Jakarta – The Commander-in-Chief of the Indonesian Armed Forces, General Agus Subiyanto, received the remains of Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, Try Sutrisno, for military burial following prayer services at Sunda Kelapa Mosque in Central Jakarta on Monday.
The ceremonial reception of Sutrisno’s remains was led by General Agus Subiyanto in the mosque’s courtyard. At precisely 12:50 WIB, the remains were formally transferred from his family to the Armed Forces for military burial at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta.
The coffin containing Try Sutrisno’s remains was borne by eight members of the Presidential Security Force (Paspampres), accompanied by a military drum procession from the mosque courtyard to the funeral vehicle. The entire procession was conducted with solemnity and order, with family members and members of the public following the funeral cortège.
Try Sutrisno, Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, passed away at the Armed Forces Central Hospital (RSPAD) Gatot Soebroto in Jakarta on Monday morning at approximately 07:00 WIB. News of his death was communicated through an official statement issued on behalf of the family and the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), and confirmed by several officials from the Office of the State Secretariat and the Presidential Security Force.
According to the official statement, Sutrisno’s remains were washed at RSPAD before being transferred to a funeral home located at Jalan Purwakarta Number 6, Menteng, Central Jakarta.
