Comfortable Inhalation Therapy Key to Optimal Treatment for Children
Respiratory disorders remain a serious health challenge for children in Indonesia. According to the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) from the Ministry of Health, 70,771 cases of asthma were recorded in children under the age of four. This figure underscores the urgency of early intervention, including appropriate inhalation therapy to prevent the worsening of medical conditions.
Paediatric Respirology Consultant Dr. Wahyuni Indawati, Sp.A, Subsp. Respi(K), emphasised that inhalation therapy is a crucial pillar in treating respiratory diseases such as asthma, bronchiolitis, and chronic lung disease. However, she stressed that the effectiveness of treatment does not depend solely on the drug dosage.
“In children, the success of therapy is determined not only by the medication given but also by comfort during the inhalation process. Devices that are quiet, easy to use, and do not trigger anxiety can improve a child’s adherence to treatment,” Dr. Wahyuni said during a health discussion organised by OMRON Healthcare Indonesia in Jakarta on Thursday (2/7/2026).
The Head of the Respirology Coordination Working Unit (UKK) of the Indonesian Paediatric Society (IDAI) added that many parents find it difficult to administer therapy at home because the noise of the nebuliser machine often frightens children. Additionally, the large size of the device frequently poses a problem when the family needs to travel.
Responding to these challenges, OMRON Healthcare Indonesia officially introduced the NE-U300 Nebuliser. Coinciding with National Children’s Day, OMRON also paid special attention to material safety. All mask components of the NE-U300 are guaranteed to be free of phthalates, chemical compounds that risk disrupting the hormonal and reproductive systems.
In addition to the NE-U300, OMRON also highlighted the advantages of the NE-U200 model, which was launched in May 2026. The device uses a disposable mesh that is more hygienic as it requires no manual washing and supports use in a 360-degree position, allowing therapy to be performed while lying down.
