Comedian Narji Leaves PKS, Joins PSI

Comedian Narji has reportedly joined the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). Narji was previously a cadre of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).

Chairman of the PSI Central Executive Board (DPP) Bestari Barus said Narji joined PSI last weekend at an event held by the PSI Regional Executive Board (DPW) in Banten. “Yes, last Sunday. There was a mass circumcision event organised by the PSI DPW Banten. On that occasion, Brother Narji was inducted into PSI,” Bestari said when contacted on Thursday (9/7).

He said Narji had been in communication with the Banten DPW for quite some time about joining. Bestari welcomed Narji’s move positively, noting that the movement of cadres between parties is normal. “In any party, there are those who leave and those who come. Perhaps there was chemistry built between friends in Banten and Brother Narji, which led him to join. Hopefully, this becomes new energy to strengthen PSI in the Banten region,” he said.

He added that other figures would be joining PSI in the near future. “There are those who will join and announce it, but some are waiting for the right time. We’ll just wait,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Mabruri, Head of Communication and Digital Affairs for the PKS Central Executive Board, said he respected Narji’s decision to continue his political journey with PSI. According to Mabruri, changing political choices is the right of every citizen and must be respected in a healthy democratic climate.

“Brother Narji’s decision is a personal one that we respect. In a democratic life, every person has the right to determine their political choices,” Mabruri said in a statement on Wednesday (8/7). He expressed appreciation for the camaraderie and contributions Narji had made during his time with PKS. “On behalf of the entire PKS family, we thank Brother Narji for his dedication, camaraderie, and contributions during his time with PKS. We appreciate all the efforts and service he has given,” he said.

Mabruri also prayed that Narji would be granted ease and success in carrying out his mandate in his new place. “We pray that Brother Narji is always granted health, smoothness, and success in his service. Political differences should not sever ties of friendship or the spirit to jointly build the nation,” he continued. He emphasised that PKS remains committed to building a mature political culture by promoting mutual respect despite differing political choices. “PKS will continue to focus on serving the people and fighting for the people’s interests. We also maintain good relations with all parties, including friends who choose a different path of political service,” said Mabruri.
