Nabire — Combined TNI-Polri forces have successfully secured 561 rounds of ammunition and other pieces of evidence during enforcement action against a hiding location of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Aibon Kogoya in Nabire Regency, Central Papua.

The Head of the Law Enforcement Task Force for the Cartenz Peace Operation (Satgas Gakkum ODC), National Police Senior Commissioner IGG Era Adhinata, stated in Nabire on Monday that on Sunday, 1 March, at 09:30 WIT, the combined TNI-Polri team conducted law enforcement efforts against KKB Aibon Kogoya, which had previously attacked a security post at PT Kristalin in Nabire.

The KKB members’ hiding location was in the Nabarua forest area, Kali Haparan Village, Nabire District, Nabire Regency.

“As the combined team approached the location, there was an exchange of fire. The KKB members then fled and abandoned their camp,” he stated.

From the location, the combined forces discovered various pieces of evidence, including 561 rounds of ammunition, cash totalling Rp79,700,000, and 12 mobile phones.

Additionally, officers also recovered two mobile phones belonging to victims of the attack at the PT Kristalin security post that were previously reported stolen by the group. Another mobile phone was suspected to belong to the group’s leader.

All evidence has been secured for purposes of further investigation.

According to field observations on 1 March, TNI forces also deployed military helicopters in the operation to support mobility and territorial security during the law enforcement process.

“Operations will continue to be conducted to maintain security stability and protect the community from armed violence in the Nabire region,” he stated.
