Combating Stunting, Hankook Indonesia Launches Health Programme in Cikarang
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Hankook Tire Indonesia has launched a community health programme in Hegarmukti Village, Cikarang, West Java, encompassing nutrition counselling, free health examinations, and donations to support the optimisation of health services. President Director of PT Hankook Tire Indonesia, Jung Jinkyun, explained that the programme aligns with the Indonesian government’s efforts to reduce stunting rates. “We hope this programme serves as a tangible contribution from Hankook to support the welfare of communities around our operational areas, particularly in the health sector,” said Jung Jinkyun in a written statement on Friday. He added that Hegarmukti Village was selected as the implementation site due to its relatively higher stunting percentage compared to other villages in Bekasi Regency. In its execution, the programme provides education to expectant mothers and parents of children aged 0-3 years as an early prevention and handling step for stunting. “Through this programme, we not only deliver counselling as an educational medium for expectant mothers and mothers, but also empower them through cooking demonstration sessions that introduce proper cooking methods to produce healthy and nutritious menus as a practical solution to improve child and family nutrition issues,” he stated. Furthermore, the series of activities includes free health check-ups for children, including measurements of weight and height to monitor growth and development as well as early detection of stunting risks. This initiative aligns with the national agenda of the Ministry of Health in expanding access to health services, particularly for preventing health issues from an early age and improving community health quality. As part of the programme, PT Hankook Tire Indonesia is also distributing 17,500 nutrition packages gradually over two months to six villages in Bekasi Regency, namely Hegarmukti Village, Cicau Village, Pasirranji Village, Pasirtanjung Village, Jayamukti Village, and Sukamukti Village, through local Posyandu health posts. Bekasi Regency Secretary Endin Samsudin stated that through this stunting prevention activity, they hope to help reduce the number of stunting cases in the Bekasi area.
