Color paper price rises

JAKARTA (JP): PT Modern Photo, a public photographic firm, said here yesterday that color paper price will increase worldwide next year.

Spokesperson for the company, Fennie Samudra, told The Jakarta Post here yesterday that due to massive rises in raw material costs, including the cost increase in the past two years of over 50 percent in the wood pulp and over 25 percent in silver, color paper price will rise by three to seven percent.

Modern Photo is Indonesia's sole distributor of Japan-based Fuji Film Photo Company's products, ranging for consumer photographic to professional, industrial and other magnetic products.

"At Modern Photo, we have continually tried to ensure that prices of color paper are not subject to significant price variations. However, it's now becoming evident that a rice increase will be unavoidaable due to the costlier raw materials," she said.

She added that price rises will also occur in other countries as the American Eastman Kodak Company, has also announced a price increase for its products effective in January 1995.(icn)
