Cologne textile fair 1997
JAKARTA (JP): The organizing committee of the International Fair Clothing Machinery 1997 has invited Indonesian machinery and textile producers to participate in the fair being held from June 3 to June 7 in Cologne, Germany.
Wilhelm Niedergoker, the executive director of the exhibition, said here yesterday the international fair would be the biggest fair of its kind in the world, with participants reaching around 650.
There would be about 86 Asian exhibitors, with Japan sending 35 companies, Taiwan 23 firms and Hong Kong 16 firms.
According to Elgar Straub, the executive director of the Clothing and Leather Technology Section of German Machinery Associations, the value of exports of German textile machinery to Indonesia rose to 6 million deutschemark in 1995 from around 3 million deutschemark (US$1.75 million) in 1990. Most of the machinery was pressing machines, sewing machines and cutting machines. (10)
