Colo Dam Discharge Reduced to Maintain Irrigation Supply

The Bengawan Solo River Basin Authority (BBWS) has reduced the water discharge from Colo Dam in Nguter, Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java, as a measure to maintain irrigation water availability during the dry season. The discharge was adjusted from 18 cubic metres per second to 16 cubic metres per second to ensure sufficient supply for approximately 25,000 hectares of agricultural land in the Soloraya region to Ngawi. The gradual distribution management is being implemented in line with irrigation needs as the dry season progresses. Colo Dam is a vital infrastructure supporting the Colo Irrigation Area, which serves thousands of hectares of rice fields. The discharge management is expected to sustain agricultural productivity while anticipating the risk of water shortages in paddy fields.
