Collision spills oil into S'pore waters
SINGAPORE (Reuter): A collision at sea involving a bunker
barge has spilled oil near Singapore's eastern coastline and
authorities are working to contain it, the Port of Singapore
Authority (PSA) said yesterday.
The freighter Sun Pulse and the bunker barge Saybolt collided
at 0700 hours local time (2300 GMT Monday) at Singapore's eastern
anchorage, it said in a statement.
A PSA spokeswoman said only one of Saybolt's tanks, holding
300 tons of fuel oil, was damaged. She said she did not know how
much oil had been spilled.
PSA has deployed seven oil spill combat crafts to control the
oil.
