Jakarta — The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of DKI Jakarta has revealed new facts regarding the incident in which a concrete boundary wall at SMPN 182 Jakarta in South Jakarta collapsed on Sunday, 15 February 2026.

BPBD DKI Jakarta Chief Executive Isnawa Adji disclosed that the wall, measuring 5.3 metres in height and 64 metres in length, actually belonged to a local resident.

“On 24 December 2025, the school had already sent a letter, acknowledged by the village head, addressed to the homeowner regarding the leaning wall. The homeowner promised it would be repaired after the Lunar New Year celebrations,” Isnawa told reporters on Monday, 16 February 2026.

Following the wall collapse, SMPN 182 coordinated and held a meeting with the homeowner, the JS1 education sub-district head, the sub-district Community Early Awareness Forum (FKDM), the Kalibata Community Institution (LMK), the Kalibata village head, the Kalibata Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), and the Pancoran Police Sector.

“The meeting took place at approximately 13:20 WIB at SMPN 182 Jakarta. By 14:00 WIB, an agreement had been reached whereby the homeowner would take responsibility for restoring the school’s structures — including the boundary wall and reception room — to their original condition,” Isnawa explained.

In response to the incident, authorities will promptly dredge the debris that fell into the river channel to prevent flooding that could affect surrounding residents.

“By 15:30 WIB, an excavator belonging to the South Jakarta Water Resources Agency was already on site carrying out clearance work together with the Kalibata Village public facilities maintenance team (PPSU). The work will be completed as soon as possible before students return to school on 23 February 2026,” Isnawa said.

The moment of the wall collapse at SMPN 182 Jakarta was captured on CCTV. The footage went viral on social media. The school wall, located in the Kalibata area of Pancoran, South Jakarta, collapsed on Sunday, 15 February 2026.

Fortunately, no passers-by were in the vicinity when the lengthy wall came down. There were no injuries or fatalities reported in the incident.
