Cianjur, VIVA – The commitment to support the national food self-sufficiency programme continues to be strengthened through cross-sector collaboration. The Indonesian National Police (Polri) together with the West Java Provincial Chapter of Pemuda Katolik (Catholic Youth) organised the Quarter I 2026 Penanaman Jagung Serentak (simultaneous corn planting) on 80 hectares of land in Desa Mande, Kecamatan Mande, Kabupaten Cianjur, West Java, on Saturday, 7 March 2026.

The land belongs to PT Cirata Wahana Pesona Sakti (Yayasan Trisakti) and is managed by CV. Nera Agro Mandiri, a unit of Pemuda Katolik Cianjur. The programme was implemented in collaboration with Polres Cianjur, Bulog Cianjur, BUMDes Cianjur, and Gapoktan Desa Mande.

The Police Chief of Cianjur AKBP Akhmad Alexander Yurikho Hadi emphasised that the involvement of the Polri in this activity is a tangible form of support for the government’s strategic programme to strengthen national food security.

‘This corn planting is a manifestation of the synergy between Polri, youth organisations, and communities to strengthen food security while also providing economic impact for farmers and surrounding communities,’ he said in a statement on Saturday, 7 March 2026.

Meanwhile, the President of the Central Executive Board of Pemuda Katolik, Stefanus Gusma, stated that the involvement of his cadres in this programme is active participation by the younger generation in addressing the nation’s strategic agenda.

‘Food security is a future issue for the nation. Therefore, Pemuda Katolik cadres must be present with tangible work, building collaboration with the government, authorities, and farming groups,’ Gusma said.

He also invited Pemuda Katolik cadres in various regions to develop similar programmes as part of tangible contributions to the community.

Separately, Alfian Syukur, Head of Pemuda Katolik West Java Provincial Board (Komda Pemuda Katolik Jawa Barat), assessed that land management through such collaboration can open new economic opportunities and strengthen the role of cadres in regional development.

In a different event, the Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, led the national Phase I 2026 corn planting, centred in South Sumatra and attended by the regional police ranks across Indonesia via Zoom. The Police Chief emphasised that this programme is an mandate from President Prabowo Subianto to realise national food self-sufficiency.

In addition to strengthening food security, increasing corn production is deemed crucial to meet rising demand, including to support the MBG programme (Makan Bergizi Gratis).
