Collaboration Between the Presidential Staff Office and Bakom Seen as Effective in Strengthening Narratives and Countering Disinformation
Public policy analyst from Trisakti University, Trubus Rahadiansyah, welcomed the move by Presidential Staff Office Chief Muhammad Qodari to hold a press conference to convey progress and accountability of the government’s priority programs. According to Trubus, this step demonstrates the strategic role of the Presidential Staff Office in guarding the public narrative while ensuring the public receives comprehensive, accurate, data-based information related to the priority programs of President Prabowo Subianto. “This is part of strengthening transparent and accountable governance. The public needs to know what the government has done, how it is supervised, and how policy implementation is carried out on the ground,” he said on Wednesday (4/3/2026). He noted that the press conference conducted by the KSP does not only function as information dissemination, but also as an instrument to control strategic issues in the public space. In this context, the KSP is considered to have successfully carried out the function of guarding priority programs across ministries/institutions. Trubus also highlighted the importance of accountability, particularly regarding the use of state budgets. He cited the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program which has attracted public attention and requires open explanation to avoid speculation. “Budget accountability must be explained openly. This is important to maintain public trust in government programs,” he said. Furthermore, he assessed that the KSP’s move to actively collaborate with the Government Communications Agency (Bakom) through joint press conferences is a positive breakthrough in strengthening integrated public government communication. “Collaboration like this is important and should be continued. With coordinated communication, the government narrative can be stronger, more consistent, and not easily undermined by disinformation,” he explained. In today’s dynamics of public communication, Trubus said openness of information is the key to dampening the growth of disinformation, defamation, and negative narratives about the government. He also urged that government public communication involve academics and technocrats who have high credibility in the eyes of the public, so that policy messages can be received objectively. “The public needs to receive complete information, not only achievements, but also challenges and obstacles. This is where public trust can be built,” he concluded. (Cah/P-3) Political analyst Ujang Komarudin assessed the swift move by Seskab Lt. Col.
