Collaborating with Alumni, Pramono Approves Kanisius Bus Stop Revitalisation
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has expressed his approval for the revitalisation of the bus stop in front of Kanisius College in Menteng, Central Jakarta, as a measure to improve public transport facilities.
The revitalisation proposal came from a Kanisius alumnus during the Canisius Expo 2026 on Saturday (29/8). The bus stop revitalisation will be carried out through collaboration with alumni, while continuing to prioritise the public interest.
Pramono said the bus stop will be equipped with a pedestrian crossing featuring traffic lights (APILL) or a pelican crossing for the safety and comfort of users, particularly Kanisius students.
“Indeed, the condition of the bus stop is very outdated. If it is named Halte Kanisius and then improved by alumni, as long as it is for the public interest, I give my approval,” said Pramono.
This is in line with Pramono’s encouragement for the extended family and alumni of Kanisius College to continue collaborating to build Jakarta.
He assessed that a leading school such as Kanisius College has contributed to the development of Jakarta and Indonesia through the work of its alumni who play roles in various fields.
“Many Kanisius alumni have already contributed to Jakarta and to our nation. So cooperation, collaboration, Jakarta as a global city, the nation’s capital, an inclusive city, in my view will make Jakarta even stronger,” said Pramono.
According to the Governor, diversity is Jakarta’s strength as a global city. As an inclusive, multicultural, and multi-ethnic city, the Jakarta Provincial Government must be present and provide equal services without discriminating based on religion, group, or ethnicity.
“As Governor of Jakarta, I must be a governor for all groups, all religions, all communities, all ethnicities. Including today, I did not expect that the performance showcased at Kanisius was Kalimantan. This reflects that Kanisius truly maintains multiculturalism, multi-ethnicity, and so on,” he said.
Canisius Expo 2026, as part of the series leading up to the 100th anniversary of Kanisius College, carries the theme “Innovating for Human Dignity”. The event serves as a space to develop students’ creativity, competence, and character.
In this event, 492 students participated in a colossal dance titled “Penjaga Rimba Borneo”. Canisius Expo also featured various activities, ranging from academic, arts, and sports competitions to an Education Fair, Talent Spotting, as well as introductions to universities, majors, careers, and scholarships.
“For Jakarta, activities like this are very important because the city’s development ultimately depends heavily on the quality of its human resources,” concluded the Jakarta Governor.
