Coffee dispute resolved

SINGAPORE (AFP): A Singapore appeals court resolved a brewing dispute between coffeemakers by ruling the word "coffeemix" was not exclusive to one manufacturer, the Straits Times reported Wednesday.

The court on Tuesday ruled that Super Coffeemix Manufacturing, a listed Singapore company, and an Indonesian firm and the Singapore importer of Indocafe Coffeemix, were both free to use the word "coffeemix" for its products.

Super Coffeemix had sued the Indonesian firm and the Singapore importer for trademark infringement in the High Court, which dismissed the case last October.

Coffeemix is a combination of coffee powder, sugar and non- dairy creamer in a packet which is added to hot water to make an instant cup of coffee.
