SURABAYA - Indonesia Coffee Expo (ICX) 2026 is entering its final day, held at Grand City Convention Hall Surabaya from 29-31 May 2026.

For PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN), coffee is not just a beverage but also a business opportunity, SME growth, and community economic development.

Amid evolving modern lifestyles, BTN is expanding support for the creative economy sector, including Indonesia’s growing coffee industry.

According to BTN, coffee culture is now integral to Indonesian society’s lifestyle.

He described coffee’s closeness to daily life, including BTN’s identity as a housing bank: “I’m sure all coffee lovers would agree – a house without coffee is bland, just like a household without coffee, so there’s bitterness and sweetness,” he told reporters.

The development of coffee shops, warungs, and coffee-based SMEs is driving economic activity across regions.

BTN noted that the banking sector heavily depends on community economic conditions, with industry growth boosting the financial sector.

“We always see that industries, SMEs, and economic growth will continue to thrive. One of the key drivers is the Horeka sector (Hotels, Restaurants, Cafes), with coffee cafes and coffee-related lifestyles being a growing trend in Indonesia,” he added.

Coffee culture in Indonesia still holds significant growth potential, despite the country’s low domestic consumption compared to its status as the world’s fourth-largest producer.
