Code 'Biru' and 'Sales 2' Revealed in BlueRay Cargo Customs Bribery Trial

Prosecutors from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) have revealed the use of the special codes ‘Biru’ and ‘Sales 2’ by PT BlueRay Cargo to refer to the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC). The terms were used in the company’s internal communications regarding alleged payments in an importation corruption case. The facts emerged during a trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Tuesday (14/7/2026), when witness Viny Liverie Lie, a human resources manager at PT BlueRay Cargo, confirmed the use of the codes under questioning by KPK prosecutor M Takdir Suhan. ‘Sales 2’ and ‘Biru’ were acknowledged by the witness as initials used to refer to Customs officials. Viny explained that the instruction to use the codes came from BlueRay Cargo Group executive John Field. Employees understood that the mention of these codes related to the allocation of funds to be handed over to Customs officials. In this case, prosecutors have charged three Customs officials with accepting bribes and gratuities totalling Rp78.8 billion. The three defendants are Rizal, Director of Enforcement and Investigation; Sisprian Subiaksono, Head of the Intelligence Sub-Directorate; and Orlando Hamonangan, Head of Customs Intelligence Section I. Prosecutors detailed that the defendants allegedly received cash payments of Rp61.7 billion, as well as entertainment facilities and luxury goods worth Rp1.8 billion from BlueRay Cargo. Additionally, there are charges of gratuities amounting to Rp15.2 billion from various import and cigarette entrepreneurs in multiple foreign currencies. The receipt of these enormous sums is strongly suspected to have been intended to facilitate customs and import processes involving the corporate group. The trial is ongoing to further investigate the involvement of other parties in this import scandal.
