Coca-Cola Japan Raises Prices on 165 Products
Tokyo (ANTARA) - Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Inc. announced on Monday (25 May) that it will raise prices on 165 products from September 2026, citing soaring raw material and energy costs linked to prolonged tensions in the Middle East.
The price increases, ranging from 3.2% to 18.7%, will apply to Coca-Cola’s flagship products as well as bottled and canned coffee and tea beverages, the company stated.
Rising costs of naphtha and aluminium, key materials for cans and plastic bottles, alongside persistently high energy expenses due to Middle East instability, continue to squeeze profit margins, the company explained. The weakening yen is further adding to import costs.
With internal efforts becoming increasingly insufficient to absorb the rising costs, the beverage manufacturer has decided to pass on part of the burden to consumers.
Cost pressures are now spreading across Japan’s entire food industry. Major meat producer Itoham Foods Inc. previously announced price hikes for 220 products from July, including ham and sausages, adding to a growing list of similar moves by food companies in the resource-scarce nation.
