Every Idul Fitri the north coast road becomes congested. The situation is worse when a vehicle stalls. This is mainly because the road is only two lanes, one each way. Accidents occur when cars try to overtake other cars.

The alternative road is even worse, and the distance longer. Because the number of vehicles increases every year, the government should consider widening the present north coast road. The present road was built by Daendels during the Dutch colonial period. It is time the capacity and quality of the road was improved.
