Co-operative Incubation Programme Must Deliver Change and Independence
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Deva Rachman, Director-General for General Affairs and Legal Affairs at the Revolving Fund Management Institution for Co-operatives (LPDB Koperasi), said the Co-operative Business Incubation Programme must not focus on completing administrative activities, but should deliver tangible improvements in co-operatives’ capacity and independence.
“The incubation programme must be able to identify the local potential of each co-operative,” Deva said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.
LPDB Koperasi and the IKOPIN Business and Entrepreneurship Incubator Centre (PIBI) are running the 2026 Co-operative Business Incubation Programme, which is beginning to show positive progress, he said.
Through structured mentoring, several participating co-operatives have advanced in strengthening their institutions, managing finances, developing businesses and using digital technology, he said.
More broadly, the programme must bring about real improvements in co-operatives’ capacity and independence so that they can grow sustainably and be ready to access financing in the future.
Deva said a key aspect of the incubation programme was ensuring that mentoring was tailored to each co-operative’s potential and characteristics.
Each region has different business opportunities, he said, so co-operative development should be based on local economic potential rather than simply following a uniform business model.
