CMES 2026 Targets Indonesia's US$4 Billion Machine Tool Market
The Indonesian machine tool market is experiencing continuous growth, driven by the expansion of the manufacturing sector and an increasing need for more efficient and precise production technology. This trend forms the backdrop for the CMES Indonesia International Machine Tool Exhibition, scheduled for 3–5 September 2026 at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) in Kemayoran. The exhibition is designed as a meeting ground for manufacturing industry players, technology suppliers, and prospective business partners. Sun Xiao Li, a representative of the CMES organiser, observed that Indonesia’s metal processing industry is shifting from conventional casting techniques towards the manufacture of high-precision components. He noted that this change is being propelled by rising demand from the automotive, electronics, infrastructure, and new energy sectors. “The development of the machine tool industry in Indonesia is still in its early stages,” Sun Xiao Li said in a press release. CMES Indonesia 2026 will showcase technologies in machine tools, precision manufacturing, automation, robotics, and smart industry. Beyond product exhibition, the event is structured to bring industry players together and expand business cooperation opportunities. Sun Xiao Li revealed that the success of the inaugural CMES exhibition in Vietnam in 2025 was a key consideration for expanding the event to Indonesia. He expressed hope that CMES’s presence would support the development of the national manufacturing ecosystem and advance the implementation of the Making Indonesia 4.0 agenda. He also pointed out that approximately 75 per cent of premium machine tool equipment in Indonesia is still imported, a situation that presents opportunities for global suppliers to enter the Indonesian market. The exhibition will occupy an area of more than 15,000 square metres and feature various machine manufacturers and manufacturing solution providers. Products on display will include machine tools, grinding equipment, industrial accessories, and automation and robotics technology used in the automotive, electronics, and general manufacturing sectors. This market prospect is underpinned by the industry’s growing need for more modern and automated production technology. Citing data from Ken Research, the value of Indonesia’s machine tool market is projected to reach US$4 billion in the coming years. This growth is expected to increase the need for investment in manufacturing equipment. CMES is a Chinese industrial exhibition organiser that has been operating for more than 23 years. The company manages 600,000 square metres of exhibition space and claims to engage over 600,000 buyers annually. At its 2025 event in Vietnam, CMES recorded 11,602 visitors and more than 30,000 business interactions. In Indonesia, CMES is partnering with the government and several industry associations to present an industry forum and an International Buyer Matchmaking Meeting, aimed at connecting business players with potential partners.
