Club Med steps up security
French tour operator Club Med said on Monday it had stepped up security at its vacation village in Bali after weekend bomb blasts on the Indonesian resort island.
A Club Med spokeswoman said in Paris none of the company's staff or guests were among the victims of the blasts, which ripped through a popular nightclub strip, killing at least 183 people, mostly young Westerners.
"We have reinforced security at the village, which is some distance away (from the blast site)," she said.
Club Med has two vacation villages in Indonesia but only one of them in Bali, in the south of the island 14 km (eight miles) from the main city of Denpasar. It has other villages in the region in Thailand, Malaysia and the Maldives.
Some 600 people were staying at the 402-room Bali village at the time of the explosions, the spokeswoman said.
Club Med has not had any cancellations so far and there has been no decision on relocating clients, she said. -- Reuters
