Closing the Session, DPR Outlines Its Record on Completed Laws
DPR RI has closed the first sitting period of the 2026-2027 session. The House leadership outlined its legislative performance over the period.
Speaker Puan Maharani’s closing address was read by Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. He said the DPR had paid serious attention to issues directly affecting people’s lives, including disaster management and forest and land fires.
“DPR RI has given serious attention to various problems that directly touch the lives of the people during this session, from social vulnerability and inaccurate social assistance, to natural disasters and forest and land fires that affect health, education and the socio-economic life of the community,” Dasco said while reading Puan’s speech at the DPR building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (8/10/2026).
The DPR said it wanted to ensure that disaster and forest fire responses were appropriate and integrated. It also stressed that social assistance must be accurate and well targeted.
“The measure of success of state policy is when every citizen who needs protection truly feels the presence of the state,” Dasco said.
Dasco said the DPR and the government had completed 20 bills into law. He described this as a commitment to strengthening the mandate of the constitution.
“Among the laws that have been passed are the Law on the Regulation of Agrarian Reform, the Law on Labour Protection, and the One Data Law. These laws strengthen the implementation of the constitutional mandate to realise social justice, state protection, legal certainty and the welfare of the people,” he said.
He added that in the next sitting the DPR would continue deliberating 13 bills that are still at the first deliberation level. Members of the DPR will be in recess from 9 October to 9 November 2026.
“On behalf of the House leadership, I announce that, from 9 October to 9 November 2026, the DPR RI enters the Recess Period of the First Sitting of the 2026-2027 Session. May Allah SWT, the One Supreme God, continue to grant His grace and guidance to us all,” he concluded.
