Closing of PSBM XXVI Marked by Social Action Distributing Basic Food Packages
Makassar (ANTARA) - The closing of the 26th Bugis Makassar Merchants Meeting (PSBM) in 2026 was marked by a social action involving the distribution of 25,000 basic food packages to orphans, the poor, and people with disabilities in Makassar and surrounding areas. The activity was initiated by the South Sulawesi Family Harmony (KKSS), led by Andi Amran Sulaiman, in the Empang area of Masjid Hajjah Andi Nurhadi, Makassar, on Friday. Officials from the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) of South Sulawesi Province and Makassar City were present and carried out the symbolic handover of basic food packages to orphans. Andi Amran Sulaiman stated that the PSBM activity serves as a form of collaboration among various parties to broaden the impact of care towards the community. Meanwhile, Ibnu Munzir, Chairman of the PSBM XXVI Committee, explained that this aid activity had begun ahead of the PSBM opening through various social agendas, including visits to orphanages in several areas of Makassar. “No fewer than 25,000 packages were prepared and distributed to orphans, the poor, and people with disabilities,” he clarified. In addition, the committee has prepared follow-up programmes after Eid, such as free cataract operations and health examination services for underprivileged communities, including sanitation workers, mosque caretakers, and other vulnerable groups. Andi Amran appreciated the hard work of the entire committee and volunteers who have successfully carried out the activity. According to him, collaboration among various parties is the key to the success of this large-scale social action. “All parties worked exceptionally. This is proof that collaboration and care can produce a significant impact for the community,” he said. This social action became one of the main series of PSBM 2026, which not only highlights the economic networks of merchants but also strengthens humanitarian values and social solidarity within the community.
