Clinton to return to Banda Aceh

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: More than two months after his visit to tsunami-ravaged Aceh, former United States president Bill Clinton will return to the province on Monday to observe the progress of the relief effort.

During his one-day visit as the UN special envoy for tsunami recovery, Clinton is scheduled to hold talks with Indonesian officials, UN representatives, local leaders and Aceh businesspeople.

He would listen to suggestions about the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Aceh, UN relief mission coordinator Masood Hayder said.

Clinton and former president George Bush snr. visited Aceh earlier in March.

This trip includes four days in India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

Clinton's mission was to ensure that the aid was being distributed fairly and efficiently and to try keep the world's attention on the tsunami recovery effort, a spokesperson said. -- JP
