Climbers prepare for world meet
JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Climbing Federation (FPTI) will send four national climbers to compete in the climbing world championship in San Francisco, California.
FPTI chairman Maj. Gen. Sjahrir M.S. said on Wednesday the team comprised senior climbers Yuyun Yuniar, Ronald Novar Marimbing, Eta Hendrawati and their junior, Nurrahman Rosyid would leave Indonesia on June 21.
After meeting with Wismoyo Arismunandar, chairman of the National Sports Council (KONI), Sjahrir said FPTI would also hold a national climbing championship in August to seek talented climbers.
"The national championship is scheduled to take place in Manado (North Sulawesi) because of its good mountains. Medan in North Sumatra is also another alternative," said Sjahrir, who is also the Army Special Forces (Kopassus) Commander. (ivy)
