Climate and Infrastructure Investment: Indonesia-Australia Launch AUD 600 Million Partnership
Indonesia and Australia have launched KINETIK, a flagship partnership worth AUD 600 million (Australian dollars) to support sustainable infrastructure and climate investment across Indonesia over the next ten years.
The launch took place at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, led by Herman Saheruddin, Director General of Financial Sector Stability and Development at the Ministry of Finance, and Putut Hari Satyaka, Deputy Minister for Development Financing and Investment at the Ministry of National Development Planning, together with Gita Kamath, Deputy Australian Ambassador to Indonesia.
“KINETIK reflects the strength of the Indonesia-Australia partnership and our shared commitment to driving sustainable and inclusive growth,” said Deputy Australian Ambassador Gita Kamath, as reported in a press release received by Jubi from Public-Affairs-JAKT@dfat.gov.au on Thursday (20/8/2026).
She said that by combining Indonesian and Australian expertise and investment, KINETIK would help attract investment for clean energy and sustainable infrastructure projects that support economic growth, strengthen communities, and create new opportunities in the green economy.
The partnership will support projects in renewable energy, water and sanitation, waste management, and sustainable transport, while also promoting digital innovation and inclusive development.
Director General Herman expressed hope that the partnership would continue to strengthen joint efforts to advance sustainable financing policies, develop green infrastructure, and expand access to funding for climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Three investments announced at the launch demonstrate how KINETIK supports sustainable growth.
USD 35 million from the KINETIK Affirma Capital Climate Transition Fund through the Private Infrastructure Development Group for Bright Nusantara Energy, which operates micro-hydro and solar power projects with a capacity of 30 megawatts in West Sumatra, Gorontalo, and East Lombok.
USD 13 million through Australian Development Investments (ADI) to Circulate Capital Asia Fund II, which supports companies developing recycling and waste management solutions.
USD 16.65 million in Australian philanthropic and public investment through ADI for the Asia Climate-Smart Landscape Fund, which finances Indonesian companies engaged in sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, and aquaculture.
