Jakarta - The Cibubur sub-district targets the cleanup of SMAN 99 in Cibubur, Ciracas, East Jakarta, which was inundated by flooding on Saturday (21/3/2026), to be completed within one week. “One week, because the school area is around 11,012 square metres, with classrooms submerged up to chest height or about 1.5 metres. Added to that is the quite thick mud, which requires a considerable amount of time,” said the Head of the Economy and Development Section of Cibubur Sub-district, Heru Kristianto, when met on Monday (23/3/2026). “The cause of this flood was very high intensity rainfall, followed by one of the embankments in RT 6 RW 10, Jalan Shofa Marwa, Cibubur Sub-district, collapsing, resulting in overflow flooding from the Kali Cipinang,” he explained. In addition to PPSU, the cleanup also involves the Ciracas Sub-Department of Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat), which has deployed two vehicle units for spraying. The Head of the Gulkarmat Sector in Ciracas Sub-district, Sunaryo, targets the mud cleanup in the outdoor school area to be completed in one day. “For the outdoor field area, we have started since yesterday. We anticipate so that the mud does not dry out because it will complicate the cleanup process,” Sunaryo explained. “The target, for now, we are deploying two units. This is specifically for the water source, called quick response, and for the pressure, it is a unit that provides 2,500 forward thrust, so that the performance is more optimal,” he added. Previously, a joint team carried out the cleanup of SMAN 99 in Cibubur, Ciracas, East Jakarta, after it was affected by flooding from the Kali Cipinang reaching a height of 1.5 metres on Saturday (21/3/2026). The joint team consisted of Public Facilities and Infrastructure Handling Officers (PPSU), the Ciracas Environmental Executive Unit, and the Ciracas Sub-Department of Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat). Meanwhile, PPSU officers assisted the school in transporting wet benches and tables affected by the flood to be dried in the field. Several cabinets containing Al-Qur’an books were seen to be wet and muddy due to the flooding. Not only the classrooms, but also the teachers’ room up to the principal’s office on the first floor were inundated with water. Several books and computers were also affected and removed from the teachers’ room and principal’s office.
